Less than five months to go…..
Hard to believe but, yes, in five months Gala 2015 will be done and dusted. As always we welcome input and ideas as to how people would like to see Gala Week evolve and grow.
You can seed us your thoughts on Gala 2015 by clicking here, or
please feel free to e-mail chair@portaferrytown.com or if you would like to become involved in the organisation, of what is one of Northern Ireland’s longest running festivals, we meet every first Wednesday of the month in Barholm and 7.30 and everyone is welcome to join the “Gala Crew”. Don’t be afraid, come along and have your say, this is YOUR festival for YOUR town. As we always say ” The more on board, the merrier it is” 🙂
Well played Portaferry Hurlers !
Have You any old Gala Pictures?
The Gala website has now been running for 12 years, and we’ve quite a collection of pictures from over those 12 years on-line to view. We’ve also been sent various snaps from various years, which we’ve added to the archive. We’re now asking people if they have family pictures they’d like to share – did you take part in the Tug of War or Donkey Derby? Were you a House Wife of the Year? Please do get in touch or feel free to submit the pictures to pics@portaferrytown.com – we have thousands of visitors visiting this site – so who knows what gems might turn up 🙂
We’re back :)
Well, January being a “quiet” month, we thought it would be the pefect time to move the Gala Site to its new home – we honestly didn’t realise there were so many Gala Fans out there, even in the depths of winter. Fear not, we’re now back on-line and all the pictures and results are available once again. If you do spot any broken links, or missing pictures, please do let us know and well get them fixed ASAP.
A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Thanks to everyone who has supported Portaferry Gala throughout 2014 – without you, there simply wouldn’t be a Gala Week. We hope everyone gets some rest and relaxation and the chance to see family and friends over the festive period. Happy Christmas and here’s to Gala Week 2015 🙂
PAST Christmas Event
It was fantastic to see the town so busy over the weekend of 12th and 13th December.
The Light Ship sailed back and forth while the choirs and musicians sang, bringing Christmas Cheer to the dark December nights.

The Windmill was also lit and visible for miles around, hopefully this event will become part and parcel of Christmas in the town and if you’d like to know more, contact the Portaferry and Strangford Trust.

Christmas Crib Blessing
Blessing of the Community Christmas Crib took place on Monday 1st December, Thanks to everyone who came along.
Happy Christmas Everyone !
A big “thank you” to everyone who came along to see the turning on of the Christmas Tree Lights in the Square – it’s events like this that show what a great community spirit Portaferry Town has.
It’s lovely to see the Square all lit up and was great to hear the Choir’s singing out loud 🙂 We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support throughout the year and wish all our readers, from all over the world a very Happy Chistmas 2014.
