Please note that for insurance reasons the Soap Box Race planned for this years Gala, will not take place, we’re sorry to to have to announce this, but it really is beyond our control.
There are also events outside Gala Week this year :

If you’re a regular visitor from afar, or indeed from here in the town, there’s a programme running this week on BBC Northern Ireland which features the many land and sea creatures which live in and around the Strangford Lough area. Based in the WWT’s Castle Espie, Wild Week Live is on BBC1 Northern Ireland each night at 7pm. You can view their live webcams here and if you’ve any pictures of wildlife from around the Lough you can submit them to the programme !
For more details, or if you’ve missed any of the programmes and live in the UK, click here for the Wild Week Website. Enjoy !
If you’ve seen the signs and thought “What’s all that about ?” wonder no more, click here for details .

Congratulations to the Lep and Nathan Murray on winning Pubs have Talent last night.
Thanks to all who supported the event and as soon as we get them, we’ll have pictures up on the site.
Portaferry in Bloom needs YOUR help – the various baskets and beds around the town need some volunteers to keep down the weeds and water the flowers in the coming summer months. If you’d be up for taking ownership of an area, come along to the Square on Saturday 16th of April at 10am. All ages welcome and yes, if you like, bring your bulbs !!!
