We are sad to say that Anthony, the voice of Gala for many throughout the 2000’s, has passed away.
A larger than life figure, who threw himself into so many Gala events, he was well known to all visitors in Portaferry, during our Festival.
Anthony also hosted “Love on the Lough” on our festival radio station ferry fm.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Square for the Christmas Lights switch on. The choirs from St Mary’s and Portaferry Integrated were a delight to hear and put everyone in fine festive form. Merry Christmas from all at Portaferry Gala and a special thanks to the Deputy Mayor Cllr Eddie Thompson who counted down to 6pm.
The AGM of Portaferry Gala will take place on Thursday October the 18th at 7.30 PM in Portaferry Market House, The Square, Portaferry.
This is YOUR chance to become involved and to find out in detail, what being involved in Portaferry Gala entails.
If you are planning to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Or If you would like to become involved as an office bearer, please email email@example.com for information on the various roles available.
A number of existing Directors and Volunteers are stepping down this year, so the future of Portaferry Gala really does depend on new people coming forward.
Congratulations to the Coach Inn, winners of the 2018 Portaferry Galafest Pub Float Po

Well, it had to happen sometime and this year it did. After three weeks of non stop sunshine, it rained on Gala Sunday, so events moved to the community centre…well all except the paper boat race, of course…. For pictures, click here.
