Portaferry Gala members extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Gala Committee member Kathleen Mason, who has passed away.
To say Kate was a mainstay of the Portaferry Gala, would be an understatement in the extreme.
Her enthusiasm, willingness to help and boundless ideas and suggestions touched the entire Portaferry Community, not just through her work for Gala, but through the many other organisations she was a member of.
Kate will be sorely missed and our prayers and thoughts are with her family.

R.I.P
I was very shocked and sorry to learn of Kathleen’s death. I knew her through my involvement with the Gala Committee as part of the group who help organise the 10 Mile Road race during gala Week. She was a very helpful, friendly and enthusiastic lady and I am saddened by her passing. I counted her as a good friend.
On behalf of East Down AC and Ni Civil Service AC I wish to pass on deepes condolonces to Kathleen’s family and friends. We wee indeed privileged to know her and her good naturedness and ready smile are things we can ill afford to be without. A true lady – May she Rest in Peace.
I am the grandson of George Mason who immigrated to USA from Portaferry almost 100 years ago. His Father was John Mason and he had a farm named Parkhill. Kathleen looks like she could have been my father’s cousin.
It looks like she was a wonderful woman. My sympathy goes out to her family.
