Top Three….

Portaferry Gala made it into the top three of the NI4Kids Family Event of the Year Awards.
We didn’t win, but congratulations to the Cinemagic Film Festival on winning the overall prize.
We are delighted to have been nominated and to have made it into the top 3.
Well done to all our volunteers, sponsors and supporters. Maybe next year???

The Square in 1950!

Good old YouTube, here we have a day trip to Portaferry in the 1950’s from about 3.32 in the Daytrippers arrive in the Square: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUzuuiyuPpM The first clip contains some lovely footage of the Hotel and the Slip.
Their visit to Portaferry continues in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9rQj5Vluro&feature=youtube_gdata_player …

Have you any old home movies of Portaferry Past ?

Do you or any of your family have any old cine film of Portaferry or Strangford? If so we’d love to hear from you. Footage of Gala, Family Day’s out, The Hotel, Shore Front? Maybe the closed shops or factories? We have a large collection of videos donated to Gala a few years back, but would like to hear from anyone who can add to this. The Travelling Picture show are also interested in producing a programme about the area, if enough footage is available. Please do get in touch and we’ll pass on your details.
