Following community feedback and as we move into our 51st year, the Portaferry Gala Float Parade will be moving to Saturday afternoon in 2018. This will see our event become a major weekend tourist attraction for the Portaferry area. It will start at 2pm and will be followed by a family friendly event on the Saturday evening.
Gala 2018 will run Sunday July the 15th to Saturday July 21st.
More details will appear on our official website as they are confirmed.
There will be a meeting in the Market House, Portaferry, at 7pm on the 3rd of January, to discuss Gala Week 2018.
We would like to invite everyone to this, as a number of decisions need to be made, with regards to this year’s event and we’d like as much feedback from the Community as possible.
A big thanks to Portaferry Integrated and St Mary’s Primary Schools, who sang at the Christmas Lights Switch on.

The committee would encourage anyone interested in Gala to keep an eye on this site, as much help as possible is needed every year. From setting up barriers, making sandwiches, event managing etc..

The Portaferry Gala Committee would like to offer their sincere condolences to their esteemed member Jackie Whiteside on the sudden death of her husband Billy Whiteside.
Many will remember Billy, from their time as owners of McNamara’s Bar, which hosted not only our Gala Meetings, but also a number of events over the years.
Our thoughts are with the family at this time.
